Loesje is a writers’ collective and fictional character based in Arnhem, known for the thousands of posters featuring creative, critical yet optimistic slogans on socio-political and cultural developments. Loesje loves to ask difficult questions and bring people together, qualities that also apply to Plaatsmaken. You need both a sharp pen and printing techniques to make posters. And when you consider that both have been active in Arnhem since the 1980s, it’s actually strange that they’ve never collaborated before…
On August 26, that’s all set to change; because Loesje and Plaatsmaken will be pooling their expertise and inviting you to join in. First, Loesje will take you inside her mind to show you how to write those Loesje texts. Afterwards, Plaatsmaken will give you a crash course in screen printing. You’ll also learn about the editorial process that’s part of every Loesje writing session. And finally, both disciplines will come together, and you’ll get to print Loesje texts. You can print on fabric, for example, so if you bring along a suitable T-shirt, pillowcase or cotton bag, you can create your own unique Loesje garment!
